Improvement theatre

The reason why people want to cancel retrospectives is not because they don't want to improve but rather they know theatre when they see it.

This is not to say that retrospectives can't be valuable.  But that is measured on whether they are treated as a mechanism for actual improvement instead of a bad therapy session.
