Brainstorming my preferred project culture

There are explicit guidelines - democratically chosen and revisited as necessary. No wishy washy, vague statements. That's just throwing people in the deep end.

People are always thinking "What can we try to make things better?" where "better" is based on explicit values and principles.

The creation of effective self-organisation/democracy requires the creation of multiple leaders (that are also "good citizens"). This can be assisted by rotating roles, where roles should simply be seen as reponsibility for a particular set of activities.

There is more focus on people who "are authorities" in their fields of expertise versus "have authority" from their title/position.

This sounds a lot like some of the concepts represented in Level 5 leadership

A fundamental concept here is that great leaders put their ego aside, and as such have no need for authority wielding titles.
